Jack Oyabun is a spatially responsive object designed to activate the atrium of Kajima KI Building in Tokyo. The upward motion of the jack lift and the opening action of the colorful fins enhance the verticality of the three-story architectural void. Jack Oyabun projects a dominant visual attention from the atrium ground towards the skylight. Bottom-mounted, mini spotlights that illuminate the orange and magenta sculptural interior reinforce this spatial sensation.

The dark green exteriors of twelve manually moveable fins provided a clear contrast with the bright interior color. The dark green colors and the shaping of the fins provoke a contextual resonance with the surrounding plantings inside the Kajima atrium. Jack Oyabun culminates the image of nature and technology; speculating beyond single object centrism, moving towards the ambivalent relationship between figure and space.
